SEOUL Magazine is a travel and culture monthly designed to help both expats and tourists get the most of their stay in the city, whether they’re in for only a few days or dedicated lifers who are always in search of new places, facts and interesting events. Featuring in-depth reporting on how to enjoy the city, foreigners’ perspectives on life as an expat in Korea and more, SEOUL is an eclectic publication that has something for everyone, whether you’re looking for an interesting read or a simple source of information.
SEOUL Magazine is published by Seoul Selection, a Korean publishing house that takes a leading role in the globalization of Korean culture, including the arts, society and lifestyle. Its distribution network includes major Korean bookstores, university libraries, bookstores in the United States and other foreign countries, and several major online stores, making Seoul Selection titles easy to find abroad. EXPLORING SEOUL: Each month highlights a different neighborhood in the city by exploring its history, famous spots and underrated discoveries. Places to eat are also provided, not to mention some stunning photographs!
SEOUL TRAVEL BITS: A series of tidbits of information on various locales for each month, including historical background, must-see places, shopping areas, neighborhood dining, and any cultural events happening in that month.
TRAVEL: This section takes readers outside the city to various towns and cities around the country, including many rare spots that are often overlooked or underrated. Must-see places are provided, as well as information on dining, accommodation and travel tips.
KOREA TRAVEL BITS: The same as SEOUL TRAVEL BITS, only focusing on spots that span the whole nation!
SEOUL WALKS: This column provides the adventurous readers with active walking courses throughout the city. Whether it’s a historical journey designed to educated and enlighten or a K-Pop course that takes you to where all the stars are born, there’s always a WALK for everybody.
SEOUL EATS: What better way to explore a city than by eating your way around it? Snarky food blogger (zenkimchi.com) and food tour expert Joe McPherson takes readers on a variety of gastronomic journeys, recommending not only individual restaurants but also providing some cultural background regarding certain foods and culinary practices. From temple cuisine to summer sweets, this column is sure to please all the foodies out there.
NIGHTLIFE: Simply put: Seoul is a great city for nightlife. Whether you’re in the mood for somewhere quiet and discrete or are aching to go wild all night under the neon lights of the hottest club, this column offers a variety of venues that offer an equal variety of beverages.
SHOPPING: This column recognizes that Seoul has its own set of idiosyncrasies and difficulties. Every month comes with a list of where to buy what for that time of year.
